The Ministry of Science and Technology held the Reception for Foreign Experts to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People on September 27, 2019. Vice Premier Han Zheng, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the reception and delivered a speech. Attendees included Liu He, Yang Jiechi, Chen Xi, Zhang Chunxian, Xiao Jie, and Wan Gang

The five foreign experts were, respectively, Li Zhengren, a Swiss professor who is the Executive Dean of the Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation, Albino Gerardo Chacon Gutierrez, a Costa Rican professor of the School of European and Latin American Studies, Jiger Janabel, a Kazakh professor of the special graduate program of Eurasian Civilization Studies, Curtis Roy Evans, an American associate professor of the School of English Studies, and Maxim Shishkov, a Russian associate professor of the School of Russian and Eurasian Studies.

The experts praised that during the 70 years since the founding of the PRC, especially over the 40 years implementing the Reform and Opening-up, the Chinese people have overcome all obstacles and made remarkable achievements – they have stood up, grown rich, and are becoming strong, blazing a new path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The experts also expressed sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Science and Technology for the opportunity to attend the reception and their heartfelt wishes to the prosperity of China and the realization of the Chinese Dream of the rejuvenation of the nation.
