Scholars and students share views on Spanish and Latin American studies

 
SISU President Cao Deming said the forum would help graduates do deeper research on Latin American countries and cultures.


The School of European and Latin American Studies of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) held an academic forum on Latin American studies late Augest, as a part of the annual Shanghai Postgraduate Academic Convocation. Near a hundred participants from more than 20 universities attended the forum.

Professor Cao Deming, the President of SISU delivered a speech on the forum, indicating that area studies played an important academic role in China's foreign policies and decision-making. He said the forum would help graduates do deeper research on Latin American countries and cultures.

Jiang Shixue, vice president of the Latin American Association of China and researcher of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, shared his opinions on the relationship between Latin American politics and economy.

Lu Jingsheng, a professor of Spanish at SISU, gave a talk on the cultural perspective towards Latin American studies. He said that Latin America is a academic wonderland of Spanish to be explored.

Scholars also commented on papers written by doctoral and postgraduate students from universities all over the country during the forum and rewarded 38 papers.
