Consul General of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai visited SISU



On 11th, January, 2019, Marek Ciesielczuk, Consul General of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai, along with Piotr Leszczyński, Consul of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai and Pei Qiong, assistant of Consul General visited Shanghai International Studies University(SISU). Li Yansong, President of SISU, had friendly meetings with the them on Songjiang campus.

Li Yanson first extended warm welcome and gratitude to the consul general for visiting SISU right after taking the new post in Shanghai. Then he gave the consul general a brief introduction of the development of SISU, especially the achievement of SISU’s Polish major since it was founded a year and a half ago. Li Yansong thanked the consul general for his help and support during the establishment of SISU’s Polish MA program. SISU is keeping close relationship and cooperation with several top Polish universities and hopes to enhance exchanges between students and teachers and advance cooperation in research programs. Li also mentioned that both the People’s Republic of China and SISU were founded in 1949. The year 2019 celebrates the 70th anniversaries of PRC, as well as that of SISU. SISU sincerely invites the consul general to attend SISU’s anniversary celebration events.

The consul general said it was a great pleasure for him to work in Shanghai, a city with the fastest growth in the world. What’s more, it is even more delightful for him to visit SISU, one of the best international studies universities in Asia, as his first stop after he took the office. Although it is his first time to be in SISU, he has already had contact with students and teachers in Polish major of SISU and their diligence and hospitality have left deep impression on him. He gladly accepted the invitation of LI Yansong and pointed out the year 2019 also marked 70 years of relations between China and Poland. The consul general said he would try his best to make contribution to the development of SISU’s Polish major and Polish study. Consular officials have already started to make preparation for lectures and activities about Polish culture and relationship between China and Poland in hope to celebrate the 70th anniversaries of SISU. The consul general gave Polish books and picture albums to Polish major of SISU as gifts.

Xu Hong, Dean of School of Russian and Eurasian Studies, Wang Zheng, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Jin Jiyong, Dean of School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Qi Xin, Associate Dean of School of Russian and Eurasian Studies, Qian Qin, Director of Central-Eastern European languages, Mao Rui and Tomasz Ewertowski, teachers of Polish Major also attended the meeting.
