Kazakh Consul General in Shanghai and His Delegation Visit SISU

On March 31, 2023, Li Yansong, president of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), met with Rakhimov Rakhymzhan, the visiting Kazakh Consul General in Shanghai, and his delegation on Songjiang campus. Both sides exchanged views on topics such as the construction of the Kazakh major and the Kazakhstan Center in SISU, and the education and cultural cooperation between the two countries. 

 

 

Li welcomed the visit of Rakhimov Rakhymzhan and his delegation, and introduced the disciplinary developments of SISU, with a particular focus on its Kazakh major and Kazakhstan Center. Li emphasized the close relations between China and Kazakhstan since the establishment of diplomatic ties, highlighting mutual political support, rapid growth in trade, and deepening cultural exchanges. He expressed SISU’s commitment to the development of the Kazakh major and the regional and state studies of Kazakhstan, acknowledging the strong support from the Ambassador of Kazakh to China and the Kazakh Consul General in Shanghai. SISU highly anticipates continued support from the Consul General to further enhance active exchanges and collaboration between SISU and renowned Kazakh universities and research institutions.

 

Rakhimov Rakhymzhan expressed gratitude for the warm reception at SISU and commended the efforts of the Kazakh major faculty in the fields of language education, cultural exchanges, and regional and state studies. He pointed out that in the over 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kazakhstan, bilateral relations have achieved significant development, with a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership established. SISU has consistently been one of the top choices for Kazakh students to further their education in China, and the Kazakhstan Center serves as a bridge for cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries, thus playing an important role in the development of the bilateral relationship. The Consul General affirmed that the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Shanghai will continue to support the construction of the Kazakh major and the Kazakhstan Center, promoting friendship,  cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

 

Rakhimov Rakhymzhan and his delegation then visited the Central Asian Languages Department at the Russian Eurasian Institute and the Kazakhstan Center. They participated in the Kazakh recitation competition organized by the Central Asian Languages Department, with Rakhimov Rakhymzhan serving as one of the judges. The Consul General highly praised the teaching achievements of SISU’s Kazakh major.

Rakhimov Rakhymzhan and his delegation also visited SISU’s Museum of World Languages, and made a donation of China-Kazakh national flag badges to the museum.
