Egypt’s Ambassador to China Assem Hanafi Visits SISU with his delegation

On May 29, 2023, Assem Hanafi, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to China, and his delegation visited Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). Jiang Feng, Chair of the University Council, welcomed the guests on Hongkou Campus.

 

Jiang Feng shared with Ambassador Assem Hanafi the cooperation and exchange with Egyptian higher education community and research institutions during his recent visit to Egypt. He pointed out that SISU has a solid foundation for cooperation and exchange with Egyptian universities and think tanks. With further expansion of comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, SISU will focus on promoting concrete cooperation in the fields of training of high-end translation talents, mutual translation of Chinese and Arabic classics, and area studies.

 

Ambassador Assem Hanafi stated that China and Egypt are close friends, and the media and academic communities of both countries should actively engage in exchange and cooperation across various fields. The successful cooperation in vocational education has trained a large number of high-quality workers for Egypt. He hoped that SISU will play a more active role in the development of higher education in Egypt, and he personally would pay high attention to and support educational cooperation between the two countries.

 

After the meeting, Ambassador Assem Hanafi delivered a speech titled “China-Egypt Relations in the New Era” and with had cordial exchanges with the faculty and students.

Guo Shuyong, Dean of the School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Wang Guangda, General Secretary of the China-Arab Research Center on Reform and Development, and Huang Yiwei, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, attended the meeting.
