Introduction:

Emily Perkins is the author of four novels, including The Forrests (Bloomsbury 2012) and Novel About My Wife (Bloomsbury 2008), and a collection of stories, Not Her Real Name (Picador 1996). Her books have won awards in the UK, New Zealand and the United States. In 2011 she was made an Arts Laureate and for several years she was the host of New Zealand television’s flagship books programme. She has lived in Auckland and London, and recently returned to Wellington, where she convenes the MA in fiction at Victoria University’s International Institute of Modern Letters.
