Speaker Biography: Ronald Schleifer is George Lynn Cross Research Professor of English and Adjunct Professor in Medicine at the University of Oklahoma. He is the editor of Contemporary Literary Criticism, that went into four editions and includes sections on cultural studies, structuralism, and other approaches to literary studies. He has written eleven books, the most recent of which are Intangible Materialism: The Body, Scientific Knowledge, and the Power of Language (2009), Modernism and Popular Music (2011), and (co-authored with Dr. Jerry Vannatta) The Chief Concern of Medicine: The Integration of the Medical Humanities and Narrative Knowledge into Medical Practices (forthcoming 2013). He is currently serving as interim editor of Configurations, A Journal of science and technology in relation to literature and the arts.
