SISU Players Triumph at Asian University Go Tournament

The SISU Go team clinched the titles in both individual and group games at the 18th Asian University Go Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand in November.

Li Zhangyuan, of SISU’s School of Japanese Studies, reclaimed the individual title for China after three years, while Su Guangyue and Wang Wei ranked third and seventh, respectively, in individual games.

The three-member teamwas sent to Ramkhamhaeng University, Bangkok by the State General Administration of Sport to play on behalf of China, after winning nine major championships in the last three years.

The team also made a clean sweep in group games after beating Taipei, Korea and other contenders from 11 Asian countries and regions.

The Asian University Go Tournament, an annual event founded in 1996, is one of the most significant Go events in Asia as well as a top-level university game in the world.

The SISU Go team also took an active part in a local university Go tournament in Bangkok, attracting participants from 63 Thai universities and nearly 70 media gathered in the city to report the games.
