Rector of Ca' Foscari University of Venice Visits SISU

On April 17, Professor Tiziana Lippiello, Rector of Ca' Foscari University of Venice, led a delegation to visit the Hongkou Campus of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). Yin Dongmei, Chair of the University Council, met with the delegation. The two sides held in-depth talks on deepening inter-university strategic cooperation, exploring diversified education models, and promoting cultural exchange between China and Italy.

 

Yin extended a warm welcome to Rector Lippiello and her delegation. She noted that since the two universities established ties in 2024, they have maintained close exchanges and achieved fruitful results. The two sides have signed agreements on strategic cooperation, student exchange, and a dual bachelors degree program, with their partnership continuing to grow in depth and scope. She said SISU attaches great importance to its partnership with CaFoscari University of Venice. At a time of rapid advances in artificial intelligence, she expressed hope that the two universities would further leverage their complementary strengths and explore diversified education models in areas such as cultural and creative industries, digital culture, tourism and museums, and cultural heritage preservation. She added that both sides should work together to cultivate outstanding international talent with a global outlook and strong cross-cultural communication skills.

 

Rector Lippiello thanked SISU for its warm reception. She spoke highly of the achievements of SISU in language and literature, area and country studies, and internationalized education. She also introduced CaFoscaris longstanding strengths in economics, languages and cultures, and Chinese studies. She said the two universities are highly aligned in both academic structure and development philosophy, and expressed her hope that they would continue to deepen cooperation through faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and other channels, while building a bridge for cultural exchange between China and Italy.

 

The meeting further strengthened the long-standing friendship between the two universities. It also clarified new directions for educational innovation and interdisciplinary cooperation in the digital era, injecting fresh momentum into the process of upgrading the strategic partnership between the two universities. Looking ahead, the two sides will continue to work closely together. Drawing on the sister-city ties between Shanghai and Venice, the two institutions will continue to contribute to China-Italy cooperation in higher education and to mutual learning between Chinese and Italian civilizations.


Professor Flavio Rizzolio from the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems at Ca' Foscari University of Venice accompanied the visit. Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the School of Business and Management, the School of European and Latin American Studies, and the World Arthistory Institute attended the meeting.
