hanghai International Studies University (SISU) signed strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Orient Webcasting Co. (Eastday.com) this Friday. Both sides will further cooperation in news communication, diverse project, talent cultivating and collaborative innovation.

SISU President Cao Deming said in the opening speech that the agreement combined Eastday’s branding influence and platform advantages and SISU’s multilingual interdisciplinary and cross-cultural comprehensive strengths. He also hopes detailed cooperation will be launched.

He Jiliang, Eastday’s Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Board,introduced that Eastday newly set up the International Center for Economic and Cultural Exchange last year.

“Being a strategic cooperative partner with SISU can integrate existing resources advantages of both sides to carry out the “cultural going out” strategy as well as promote Chinese culture going abroad.” he said.

SISU sets up “Internship Center” at Eastday, which will provide experienced reporters and editors to help provide practical training and internship for both SISU’s faculty and students. Eastday organizes lectures for the undergraduate and graduate students of SISU’s School of Journalism and Communication, as well as activities for visiting sites and academic exchanges.

And Eastday establishes “Research Center for Global Communication” to jointly develop professional training and big data analysis. It will also build an international platform for SISU’s faculty and students, serving as a space to improve the external influence of Chinese voice.

According to the agreement, two sides will make full use of new media to jointly develop a smart campus. Global Media Integration Center of SISU will efficiently collaborate with Eastday to strengthen the research and development cooperation on audio, video, microblogging, WeChat, APP, digital publishing and other emerging fields.

And the new media “Smart House” developed by Eastday will also provide diverse online and offline services on campus for all the staffs and students in the future, including shopping, health, home economics, public utilities payments, banking and other public services.

Through the two-way interaction—online and offline, a smart campus will finally shows its appearance as a new model for smart campus Internet industry.

Eastday’s President, Editor-in-chief Xu Shiping, Director of Press Relation Department, Information Office of Shanghai Municipality Yang Jing also attended the signing ceremony.
