The 2016 Program for Chinese Language Teachers inSouth Asian Countries, organized by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), kicked off in Songjiang Campus late this September. 30Pakistani students attended the first class.

In respond to the “Belt and Road” strategy, the Program is established by Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban to expand people-to-people and cultural exchange, and to promote the construction of localization of Chinese teachers in South Asian countries. SISU has been organizing this program since 2015. Since SISU has done a good job, Hanban entrusted the 2016 program to SISU again. 30 high-school graduates from Pakistan were admitted.

On the afternoon of September 26th, 30 Pakistani students arrived in Shanghai. Various activities such as welcome evening party and Chinese/foreign students convocation will be held in October.

Students attend this program are required to study for five years with one year of language preparatory courses and four years of undergraduate courses.
