Richard Krpac, the Consul General of Czech Republic in Shanghai discussed the cooperation on new major of the Czech language with SISU President during his visit to Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) on late this March.
SISU President Cao Deming introduced to Mr. Krpac SISU’s educational vision of "multilingual+" global studies, emphasizing the teaching and research through the Central and Eastern European language and culture programs. Cao also thanked Mr. Krpac’s for his support to facilitate cooperation between SISU and Czech universities.
Mr. Krpac said that the meeting can be a good start of bilateral cooperation by using an old Chinese saying “A journey of a thousand miles begins with single step”. He also pointed out that the visit by Chinese president Xi Jinping to Czech Republic in 2016 and Czech president’s ongoing visit to China in May 2017 will lay the foundation for education cooperation between SISU and Czech universities, hoping for more cross-cultural communication.
Meeting attendees included Professer Zhang Hongling, director of SISU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Professor Xu Hong, Deputy Dean of SISU’s School of Russian and Eurasian Studies.
According to China's Ministry of Education, SISU’s degree program of Czech language and culture will start to enroll students in 2018.
