hinese Vice-premier Liu Yandong awarded plaque to the Confucius Institute for Global Finance at Baruch College, The City University of New York (CUNY) at the opening ceremony of the 12th Confucius Institute Conference in Xi’an, China’s Shaanxi Province on December 12, 2017.

Dave Christy, the Provost of the Baruch College, received the plaque from Liu Yandong on behalf of the Institute.

Earlier in November, 2016, Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and CUNY signed coopeartion to establish the Confucius Institute for Global Finance at Baruch College. It was the first Confucius Institute that features global finance in the United States.

The Confucius Institute for Global Finance at Baruch College held its opening ceremony in New York on December 6, 2017. Dr. Jiang Feng, SISU University Council Chair, led a delegation to New York and attended the ceremony.

The Institute at Baruch College is the 9th Confucius Institute that SISU cooperate to establish. SISU hopes to enhance partnership with CUNY in a series of academic fields, including business management, international relations, and university administration.

Baruch College was founded in 1968, whose predecessor was the Free Academy established in 1847. The college has over 18,000 students, with more than 200 Chinese students. The College’s Zicklin School of Business is famous for finance and accounting and itis the largest and eldest business school in the United States.
