onfucius Institute scholarship students of the School of Chinese Studies and Exchange at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) experienced Chinese tea art on October 30th.
Several postgraduate students majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) introduced the classification of Chinese tea and the tea set. Then they explained the procedure of making Chinese tea to all the scholarship students and demonstrated on the spot.
After the show, groups of scholarship students experienced every step of making traditional Chinese tea on their own. They soon grasped the basic gist of handling traditional Chinese tea.
Scholarship winners also observed the differences among black tea, oolong tea and green tea, and they chose their favorite tea by tasting it.
Through this kind of experience, scholarship students learn more about Chinese culture. This Chinese tea art activity is a part of their Chinese culture experiencing required course. They will experience other various activities in this course to promote their understanding of Chinese culture.
