On April 16, our Honorary Professor, Chinese Government Friendship Award recipient, President of the Central Asia Artificial Intelligence Association, former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and former Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov, visited the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies at Shanghai International Studies University (hereafter referred to as “the Academy”). He attended a special seminar titled “Building a China–Central Asia Community with a Shared Future.” The seminar was chaired by Professor Yang Cheng, Executive Director of the Academy. It was attended by Associate Researchers Li Rudong and Lin Wenxin, as well as nearly 20 graduate students from the Eurasian Civilization Research program and the Global Europe Studies track.
Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the impact of Kazakhstan’s constitutional reform on Central Asian countries, major powers’ competition over critical minerals in key regions, the green energy transition in Central Asia, China–Central Asia cooperation in digital economy and artificial intelligence, and the prospects for connectivity and multilateral mechanisms. Norov responded to questions from faculty and students and shared his expert insights on each topic.
